Issei Kurihara studied under Prof. Namiko Umezu at Toho Children School and, from the age of 10, under Prof. Takashi Shimizu.
Competitions: Top prize of International Solo Violin Competition in Spain, 2ndprize of Osaka International Competition in Japan, top prize of International Beethoven Competition in Austria, Grand Prix of Nałeczow International violin competition in Poland, Grand Prix of Gifu International Violin Competition.
He performed in Spain, Italy, Austria China, South Korea, Taiwan, USA and Japan. He performed with Francis Pierre Deschamps by Camerata Olphica in Wien, Chichis Chamber Orchestra in Romania, Brasov Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania. Performed in Carnegie Hall in New York and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
