On May, 11, Auditions were preceded by a press conference attened by Vladimir Spivakov, Artistic Director of the Competition, People’s Artist of the USSR; Amina Shafikova, Minister of Culture of Bashkortostan; Mikhail Kopelman, Chairperson, Panel of Judges; Boris Kushnir and Nikita Boriso-Glebsky, members, Panel of Judges; Vasily Peganov, Chairperson, Board of Directors, Bashinvest.
Mr. Spivakov explained why he had selected the capital of Bashkortostan despite numerous offers to hols the Competition in various cities across Russia and around the world. This is the place where his parents met and fell in love, the place his father wen off to WWII, the place where Mr. Spivakov himself was born. Last year Maestro launched his affiliate charity in Bashkortostan that has already started supporting young talents. Talking about the Competition awards, Mr. Spivakov detailed biographies of each and every one violin master who had made prize instruments for the winners. He expressed gratitude to the Government and Ministry of Culture of Bashkortostan, as well as the main sponsors and donors of the Competition. In her turn, Ms. Amina Shafikova, the Minister of Culture of Bashkortostan, thanked Vladimir Spivakov for his immense help and support for gifted kids and expressed confidence that the Competition would boost interest in classical music in the Republic.
